Dallas, Texas - February 2019
What inspired this photoshoot?
When I returned back to the states after 3 months in South America, I decided to start 2019 with a new look. For a while I’ve wanted to cut my hair short, but I never thought that I had the face shape to pull it off. And that in itself is a total myth. I think any style can be rocked if you own it with confidence. After I cut my hair, I felt like a totally new person! And at the same time, I felt like me. I had a lot of people tell me that it was as if I had always had this look; it suited me.
After I cut my hair short, I wanted to document this new beginning.
How did you find your outfit?
I wore an authentic shirt that I purchased in Guatemala in 2017. I love the vibrant colors of this shirt. What I didn’t love though were the jeans I wore! I had lost some weight and these jeans didn’t fit me like they used to. Outfits aren’t always on point, yet, my attitude around them can be.
How did you feel during and after the photoshoot?
It was such a joy to work with Leslie. I remember it being a cold and windy day. It was fun to do a shoot to document my new look.
Photoshoot Credits
Photographer: Leslie Boren, Urban Photography
I’ve known Leslie since 2017 and have known about her for many years. She was a friend before I even met her. She has photographed each of my sister’s 3 children’s birth photos and is extremely talented. It was fun to work with her in a different way and allow her own expression and photographic style to come forth.
